About Our Society

Mission Statement: "Our mission is to gather, preserve, and share information concerning the families who have come through our county since it's inception. By doing this, we help others learn about their familial roots, gain interest in that and in the region, and share in a history larger than us to extend to those who follow us."

The Alcorn County Genealogical Society is a non-profit charitable and educational organization founded in 1992. Our research library is located at 611 Waldron Street in Corinth, Mississippi. We are on the ground floor of the courthouse at the East entrance and open to the public Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. To arrange for an appointment other than the normal operating hours contact: Gale Judkins at 662-286-6056. Since our inception we have continued to add original Alcorn County and Old Tishomingo County Court House records as well as many new census records for our surrounding area. Our officers and members extend a cordial invitation for you to join our society.

The fiscal year for the society runs from September 1st. through August 31st. Meetings are held quarterly on the second Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the months of August, November, February and May. If there is inclimate weather at the normal times the meeting will be held the following Thursday. We are closed on the Friday before holidays and closed the weeks of Christmas and New Years.

Dues are $20.00 per year. Members will receive four issues of our quarterly Publication "Cross City Connections." The ACGS Editor will also publish queries in our publication which have local connections. If you would like to submit a query, please send to our address here. There is no charge to members or non-members for queries submitted. Please note that queries submitted to the ACGS Editor may be edited for clarification.

We regret that we do not have sufficient staff at our Research Library to do general lookups.
